Your View: All in the interpretation

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — On March 23, the Globe had an article titled “Safety effort targets older drivers.” It stated that people 55 and older account for more than 1 in 4 traffic deaths in Missouri.

But this is just another way of saying that people under the age of 55 account for three out of four traffic deaths. Shouldn’t this age group be the target of safety efforts?

Of course, the bare statistics cited do not tell the whole story, they simply confuse the reader. My point is that data must be interpreted.

Your interpretation is heavily weighted in favor of your predisposition. Atheists interpret biological data in terms of concepts that rule out divine intervention.

Theists interpret the same data in terms of concepts that prove divine intervention.

Since our understanding of nature is confused at best, it does not serve the development of thinking skills to ban the study of intelligent design in our schools.
