We now have a president who doesn’t have to do anything in order to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. This is a travesty, and I think everyone realizes that as fact. There have been presidents who accomplished a lot, and they were not recognized for their achievements.
President Ronald Reagan should have received this prize, but the liberal establishment that runs the Nobel Committee could not bring itself to award him the peace prize. His actions brought the “Evil Empire” down, and freed millions from the yoke of tyranny, and he received faint praise from the left. They even go so far as to claim he didn’t do anything, as he wasn’t in office for the official collapse in 1989.
The two sitting presidents to receive the Nobel Peace Prize prior to Barack Obama were Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, who shared a liberal bent. This was before the role reversal of the two major parties, as it was the Republican Party that was liberal and the Democratic Party conservative. We have not had a true conservative win the Nobel Peace Prize, and we never will, as most institutions are liberal.
The liberals want to hold hands with tyrants such as Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and snub our traditional allies such as Great Britain, Germany and Israel. This approach seems backwards to me, as it is the democracies of the world that provide stability and peace to its citizens.
I hope this administration does not stray too far off the reservation, as that is a recipe for disaster. If the thugocracies of the world think our president is weak, they will redouble their efforts to exploit this situation.
This has already started in North Korea and Iran, with the launches of multiple missiles and the continuing effort to obtain nuclear weapons. We need to project strength, so that these thugocracies know we will not accept their attempt to dominate their neighbors.
Maybe then the peace prize will be appropriate. But now it is a joke.
