Voices: Vote for a fresh face

JOPLIN, Mo. — With the elections drawing near, the ads ramping up, the door bells ringing, the signs are a-flying, and everyone drawing opinions, why would you vote for a fresh face?

In all elections, incumbents face many questions, the most glaring: “How much have you raised my taxes?” It is a simple question, every “goodie” given is a tax on someone or something. If you look at our Jasper County commissioner race, many are running, but only one person, John Bartosh, has voted to raise your taxes.

Do you want the same person in office who holds the same national views, tax and spend, or do you want someone who has not raised your taxes, a “fresh face” to represent you? I am voting for a fresh face, someone who has not run before, is not beholden to anyone, or anything. We need good, honest, straightforward officials to represent us, a person who is accessible to his voters. I am voting for that fresh face — James Pendergraft. Join in and vote for a fresh face in Jasper County. He is someone you can trust.
