Special to The Globe
JOPLIN, Mo. —
I was extremely pleased this morning (Oct. 27) to read your glowing tribute, deservedly so, to Jack Holden in the Globe.
Having taught many years in the same department (social studies) at Joplin (and Parkwood) High School, I can truthfully say I never met a person more completely dedicated to his work, his community and especially to his school than Jack Holden. He seemed to live only for his job and his school.
Not being a sports fan myself, I was especially amazed by his devotion to sports in Joplin and to sports in general, especially since he was never an athlete himself. I could not in my wildest imagination picture myself going by bus all the way to St. Louis alone simply to see a Cardinals game.
I’m sure I express the feelings of his many friends and co-workers when I say Jack Holden will be sorely missed.
