Your View: Not the way forward

JOPLIN, Mo. — When Bill Clinton left office, the debt clocks had to be stopped.

He had managed to eliminate the deficit and the clocks weren’t set to run backwards. Then George W. Bush/Dick Cheney happened. The Republicans took a massive surplus and turned it into an even more massive deficit — adding two wars, two tax cuts, a Medicare expansion, and the Wall Street bailout on the national charge card. Cheney told us: “Deficits don’t matter.”

Key point is that Republican policies are driving the deficit, not Barack Obama’s agenda. And please notice that Mitt Romney’s advisers are the same people Cheney used to advise his office. Therefore we would go back to Cheney’s policies, that of the neocons. That is not the way forward.
