JOPLIN, Mo. —
In response to Eli Yokley’s Joplin Globe article on Oct. 26, there is no clearer contrast between candidates than in the race for secretary of state.
Shane Schoeller, Republican candidate, supports a law to require a photo ID to vote. But Jason Kander, the Democratic candidate, opposes a photo ID law.
These days, when we are required to show a photo ID to do almost anything, including to rent a movie or cash a check, it only makes sense that we would require one to vote. In fact, Democrats even required a photo ID to attend their national convention, but Kander still opposes this common-sense idea.
We need a secretary of state who will protect our elections from fraud. A voter ID law will do just that. I will vote for Schoeller for secretary of state.
