JOPLIN, Mo. —
In the May 13 issue of The Joplin Globe there was an Associated Press article concerning the New Orleans shooting.
I was fascinated by a comment in the article: “The FBI said the shooting appeared to be ‘street violence’ and wasn’t linked to terrorism.”
I find that somewhat disturbing. I would think that any kind of violence to our citizens would be terrorism and that anyone who causes it should be treated as a terrorist. If it is a Chicago street gang killing kids on the street, that is terrorism. If it is a street gang intimidating senior citizens and conspiring to steal their purses or whatever, that is terrorism and should be treated as such. Carting these individuals off to Guantanamo is justly deserved for such behavior. Just get them off of our streets. Firing on a Mother’s Day parade and wounding 19 people should not be tolerated as just “street violence.”
Terrorism is terrorism, period.
