Your View: There is hope

DUENWEG, Mo. — With all the negative columns in the Globe recently, I want to share something that happened on March 4.

My wife and I were in the 15th Street Wal-Mart when a young boy, about 9 or 10, came up to me and said: “I want you to have this.” He handed me an envelope that said on the front, “It’s Christmas in March.” On the back, it said, “A surprise lies inside.”

I thanked him and asked if he wanted me to open it. He said yes. When I opened it, on the top of a sheet of paper he had written “RAOK.”

When I opened the sheet, it said, “Random Act of Kindness.” There was a Wal-Mart gift card inside.

I turned around to thank him again, but he was gone. I may never meet that little red-haired boy again. But how nice is that?
