“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.” I am a proud citizen of the United States. I am allowed to say these words every day because heroes of our nation have put their lives at risk for our freedom and liberty. When I say the pledge in the morning, I don’t have to worry about getting shot at or almost getting killed while saying the pledge. I have the freedom and liberty I do today because brave heroes place themselves on the line for people they don’t even know just so their country can be free. I believe that is a real description of a hero.
Veterans have defended my liberty and freedom by fighting in numerous wars; they didn’t have to, but did! And because of all the wars we fought in, we are now able to live the lives we want to live. One war was super important to us because it helped us create the Constitution. And the Constitution ensures us the freedom and liberty of our nation. If we had no veterans today, that would mean no one fought for us and we definitely wouldn’t be where we are today.
The freedoms we have here in the United States are so great, that people from other countries are moving here because they know they will have a better chance at life here than where they came from. Sometimes we all get so caught up in life, that we forget how blessed we are to live here! I couldn’t imagine living in a place like Afghanistan, where people have basically no rights. Veterans are such important people to our society, but most of the time they get looked over. The only reason we have freedom is because of their many brave acts and deeds. I can stand today with all the freedoms I have because heroes of our nation have joined together to fight for our freedom and liberty to make this a “more perfect union.” God Bless America!
