Your View: System works

JOPLIN, Mo. — We are residents of North Missouri Avenue, Joplin. An off-ramp of the new bypass at North Main Street and Zora Avenue has been built and runs along the back of several homes on North Missouri Avenue.

Our group of neighbors became concerned for safety, noise, and lack of privacy due to the anticipated close proximity to our property of traffic on this ramp.

We took our concerns to our City Council after discussion with several city employees. A group of city individuals were requested by the council to investigate the situation and determine what action could be taken and be acceptable to our residents.

After meetings to discuss options, an agreement was made with residents and city officials and the plan was presented to the council with unanimous approval.

We would like to express our appreciation to  William Scearce, Jack Schaller, Mark Rohr and  David Hertzberg for their assistance in completion of a protective barrier. These individuals worked tirelessly to ensure that we were satisfied with the end result.

Our democratic systems does work.

Charles and Linda Lawrence
