CARL JUNCTION, Mo. —
I wanted to commend all of the volunteers who assisted the Carl Junction Police Department pull off another successful Shop with a Cop program. We set another record for assisting children have a better Christmas than their circumstances might allow. The new record is 235 children.
This program would not be the success that it has been without our donations. There are too many to thank individually, and the majority of them want to remain anonymous to the public. There are a few organizations that I want to recognize, The Carl Junction School R-1 School District, the Webb City/Carl Junction Rotary Club, the Carl Junction Fire Department and the Carl Junction Community Problem Solvers. They help us every year.
This is a very touching program, and there are always surprises, including this year when a couple came to me at the store during the program and asked how to make a donation. I explained how it worked, and the lady asked if she could make a donation. I was deeply touched as she and her husband came back in a few minutes and handed me $200 in cash. I want to say that if she will call me at the Carl Junction Police Department, I would like to thank her and provide her with a letter of thanks.
We wish everyone a merry Christmas.
