Joplin voters siding with Kinder

JOPLIN, Mo. — Voters in Jasper County seem to be siding with Republican incumbent Peter Kinder over Democratic nominee Susan Montee when it comes to the race for the next Missouri Lt. Governor, based on exit polling Tuesday.

Ryan Mcanally of Joplin said he voted for Kinder. Mcanally is a retail sales buyer who cast his vote at the Dr. Donald Clark Public Safety and Justice Center.

“I voted straight ticket,” Mcanally said. “I side with Republicans on most issues.”

Missouri Southern student Alexis Sherwood did not vote straight ticket, but still cast a ballot for Kinder. Sherwood said that she was primarily concerned with the presidential race and Proposition B.

“I lean Republican usually,” Sherwood said. “I didn’t hear a lot about the Lt. Governor race, so I voted toward the party I sided with on this candidate.”
