U.S. Senate incumbent McCaskill faces challenger Akin

NEOSHO, Mo. — Incumbent Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, faces a challenge Tuesday from Republican Todd Akin in a hotly contested race for her seat in the U.S. Senate.

Also on the ballot will be Libertarian Jonathan Dine.

He served 12 years as a state representative for the 86th District. Since 2000, he has represented Missouri’s 2nd District in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he is currently the chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces.

He previously worked as an engineer for IBM and in management at Laclede Steel Co. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1980.
