dshipman@joplinglobe.com With the arrival of “Iron Man” in theaters today, the summer movie season has officially begun. This summer will feature a number of familiar faces and characters, including Harrison Ford donning Indy’s fedora again after nearly 20 years, the return of Mulder and Scully and the gals from “Sex and the City.” If you’re looking for a great family film, there are more “Narnia” adventures, a karate-chopping panda bear, an animated “Star Wars” film and, yes, chimps in space. Here are a few of this summer’s most anticipated movies: Iron Man (opens today) The Marvel comic book comes to the big screen when wealthy industrialist Tony Stark is forced to build an armored suit after a life-threatening incident. He ultimately decides to use the technology to fight against evil. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow. Speed Racer (May 9) The live-action take on the popular cartoon series is about a young race-car driver who sets out to win the Crucible, a cross-country rally race that took the life of his brother. The film, directed by the Wachowski brothers, stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci and Matthew Fox. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (May 16) Four siblings return to the fantasy world to find that centuries have passed and another evil ruler has taken over the land. Ben Barnes, Anna Popplewell and William Moseley, Anna Popplewell and Ben Barnes star.
