JOPLIN, Mo. —
A metal band with two solid years of performing in the Joplin area has released a new album.
A CD release show for Remnants will be held on April 6 at the Ganesha Theater in Joplin. Remnants released its debut self-titled album on April 2 -- it featured eight tracks and was released on iTunes and retail through Loveway Records.
The release show will feature performances from local metal bands including As Shadows Collapse, Eatmewhileimhot, Conflicts, Fled the Southwest, Blackhole and Meridia.
Comprised of singer Jon McCain, guitarists Spencer Manchestre and Bryce Love, bassist Mikey McCain and drummer Clint Leedy, the band plays technical death-core metal.
"(The Remnants) are probably one of the most popular metal bands around the area," Ben Bauder, vice president of Loveway Records, said. "They've been playing shows around here for a little over two years, and they've been building a pretty big following, so we're really excited to be putting their record out through Loveway."
Recording on the album started in late 2011.
The show will be open to all ages. Bauder said that he anticipates a large turnout from the Joplin community.
