JOPLIN, Mo. —
A respected artist in electronic dance music will perform in Joplin. Eliot Lipp will perform into the overnight hours Friday at Ganesha Theatre, located at 2331 E. Seventh St.
His appearance is "a turning of the corner for the Joplin EDM scene," according to an announcement from the venue. He is considered one of the biggest electronic dance artists to be booked in Joplin.
Lipp is part of a Dubfixx lineup that will also include performances by Wookie Disco, Gonzo, Francis Rizzudo, Johan, Pamu and Action.
Lipp's debut, a self-titled solo album, was released in 2004. He has toured extensively over the past eight years and planted roots in electronic music scenes in Los Angeles and Brooklyn.
Lipp signed with Pretty Lights Music in 2012 and released his latest album, "Shark Wolf Rabbit Snake," through that label.
The concert runs from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Admission: $12. The event is an all-ages show.
Details: 417-621-0461.

Jeremiah Tucker: New Vampire Weekend album has shades of 'Pet Sounds'
The New York band's third full-length release, "Modern Vampires of the City," an instant classic and the best album of the year, feels like a sequel to that song. It is a record about being on the cusp of real, out-of-your-20s, unromantic adulthood and the terror that accompanies the narrowing of your options.
