CARTHAGE, Mo. — “My Eyes Painting America,” an oil-painting exhibition by Jasper artist Dan McWilliams, will open today in the main gallery of the Hyde House Gallery, 1110 E. 13th St.
A free reception for the artCentral show will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the gallery.
McWilliams studied art at Missouri Southern State University in the 1970s, and worked as an illustrator for 20 years before choosing art as a full-time career in 2001. He submitted works for the 2008 Paint the Parks competition that portray individuals on the beach at the Indiana Dunes National Park. His works can be viewed at www.danmcwilliams.com.
In the member gallery at Hyde House, works by Sarcoxie artist Mary Lou Reed will be on display, and there will be horse sculptures on the lawn by Avilla artist Rachel Wilson.
The Hyde House Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Details: 417-358-4404.
