PITTSBURG, Kan. — Michael Thomas, author of The New York Times Notable Book “Man Gone Down,” will read some of his fiction as the next Distinguished Visiting Author at Pittsburg State University.
The reading will be offered at 8 p.m. Thursday in Grubbs Hall 109 at PSU.
Thomas’ novel about post-9/11 aggression, greed and racism won him the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, which is one of the most coveted prizes in the literary world. His novel was one of 145 books, and only four in the United States, nominated for the prize by libraries around the world.
In a Booklist review of “Man Gone Down,” Donna Seaman said that “Thomas has written a rhapsodic and piercing post-9/11 lament ... and a ravishing blues for the soul’s unending loneliness.”
Thomas is currently an English professor at Hunter College in Manhattan.
The reading is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
