Some galleries change for Third Thursday art walk

JOPLIN, Mo. — Though downtown traffic has been crazy, art walkers won’t have to worry next week.

Main Street will be closed for June’s Discover Downtown Third Thursday event, which includes an art walk, live music, extended restaurant hours and more.

Organizer Linda Teeter said that tornado relief efforts by downtown participants have closed off usual gallery spots. But others will be open, she said, including the Chrisman’s building at 501 S. Main St.

House of Bounce will offer inflatable entertainment for kids, and Walrus will perform at Spiva Park.

Participants in the art walk include:

~ Spiva Center for the Arts, Third and Wall: “Print Spiva: Synthesis” by Lowak Shoppala, “Fire and Light” by Margaret Wheeler and “Blindness Isn’t Black.”

~ Post Memorial Art Reference Library, 300 S Main: “Northpark Diary” photography by Cody White. Music: “This Side Up.”

~ Columbia Traders, 420 S. Main: Art on the walls.

~ 9art Photography Studio, 508 S. Main: Mark Neuenschwander, photography with photobooth.

~ Chrisman’s, 501 S.
