Children's story about bear hunt adapted for stage

JOPLIN, Mo. — Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School will present another children's story adapted and brought to life on stage.

Michael Rosen's "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, has been re-created and adapted for stage by director Sally Cookson, and set to a score by Benji Bower.

The story is about three adventurers seeking a bear, traveling through swishy-swashy grass, splishy-splashy water and oozy-squelchy mud. Duncan Foster, Gareth Warren, Rowena Lennon and Ben Harrison star in the play.

Rosen, the author of about 140 books, wrote the story in 1989. The British touring company has presented the story since 2008 and tours across the U.K. and U.S. performing it.

A scavenger hunt will be held for kids after the show.
