• South Joplin Christian Church will hold its second annual Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, on the church parking lot.
During the event, cars are parked and decorated and children go from car to car to collect treats. There also will be games.

• A Kids Fest will be staged from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Destiny Church, 3411 N. Range Line Road.
The event will include blow-up bouncers, giveaways, games and candy.

• The Rev. Jeff Light will be the guest minister during the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Pearl Ave.
Light, a former associate pastor at the church, is now the marketing and relations director of Heartland Presbyterian Center near Kansas City. Special music will be presented by the Covenant and Sanctuary choirs.
Leslie Simpson, director of the Post Memorial Art Reference Library in Joplin, will present the program “Extreme Makeover: Joplin Edition” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday during the Presbyterian Women Gathered meeting.
