Rich Brown: Fall Roundup planned at Risen Ranch Cowboy Church

First Baptist Church of Diamond has had such success with its annual family Horse Whisperer event that it is extending a similar program to its church plant near Carthage.

Fall Roundup will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Risen Ranch Cowboy Church and Arena, four miles north of Carthage on Civil War Road or 1/2 mile north of the Highway 71 exit on Civil War Road.

Ron Crow is pastor of the Diamond church and Steve Stafford is the Risen Ranch pastor.

Last August marked the third annual Diamond event, which Crow said has drawn more than a thousand people each year.

Fall Roundup will be much like Horse Whisperer, with a cowboy theme and no charge for anything, including a ham-and-bean feed.

Along with cowboy music and poetry, there will be a horsemanship and cutting horse informative demonstration with horse-trainer Johnie Clem.

Justin McKee, the announcer at Professional Bull Riding events who will be host of RFD-TV’s “Higher Ground” show at 7 p.m. Nov. 13, will be the guest speaker. RFD-TV, launched seven years ago, is the nation’s first 24-hour television network dedicated to serving the needs and interests of rural America and agriculture.

Since an indoor arena is available at the Carthage site, Fall Roundup will be held rain or shine. However, those attending are urged to bring lawn chairs.

Todd speaking at rally

Cecil Todd, founder and president of the Revival Fires ministry in Branson and formerly of Joplin, will be the featured speaker at a non-denominational rally to show support to those who have served and are currently serving in the military.

The Yellow Ribbon Rally will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday as part of the Grand Old Gospel Hour at the Legends Family Theatre in Branson.

Todd, who begins his 59th year in the ministry this month, will speak on the theme “Wake Up and Look Up, America.”

Veterans and current members of the Armed Forces will be recognized. Featured soloist will be Lillie Knauls, an original member of the Edwin Hawkins Singers, who were recently inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn.

Sam Stauffer, pastor with Grand Old Gospel Hour, said that in addition to the rally, another purpose of the event is “to call America to repentance and prayer.”

Revival Fires, as part of the ongoing Yellow Ribbon rallies, has provided 100,000 Bibles to troops in Iraq. The international Revival Fires ministry has mission outreaches not only in Iraq but, also, in Russia, China and India.

Todd, who was the featured speaker for 20 years on a syndicated weekly TV program by the same name as his ministry, holds a bachelor of sacred literature degree from Ozark Christian College, as well as three doctor of divinity degrees. His six children are all ordained into the Christian ministry.
