• Abundant Life Christian Center, 6863 Newman Road, is holding “the big game” indoor tailgate party for children, youth and adults at 5 p.m. Sunday.
The event will feature the big game on big screens, lots of food, prizes and fun. There will be food, special activities, and inflatables for all children age 2 and up (whose parents stay on the church premises). Parents will be responsible for children under this age.
The cost is $5 for unlimited food and beverages for all youth age 8 and older and free for ages 7 and younger.

• A Valentine’s Day luncheon will be held by the “55+ Lunch Bunch” during a meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 501 W. Fourth St.
A special program of musical entertainment will be presented by the Joplin High School Strolling Strings. The Strolling Strings is a select group of orchestra members who stroll while performing a wide variety of music. The group is directed by Linda Kay Hailey. The Strolling Strings was formed 20 years ago by then JHS orchestra director Terry Dolanc and they were accompanied by his wife, Karen. Current accompanist is Marcia Ball.
Cost of the catered luncheon is $6. The deadline for reservations is noon Monday.

• A Medley of Chocolate fundraiser is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2423 W. 26th St.
All kinds of chocolate treats will be available, including sugar-free goodies.
There will be door prizes every 15 minutes and free cookbooks will be given to every family. The event will be hosted by St. Paul’s United Methodist Women.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10. All proceeds will go to local and international missions.

• The ninth annual Christopher Foundation gospel celebration will be staged today at Neosho First Baptist Church, 12325 Highway 86.
The gospel singing will start at 5:30 p.m. and will be headlined by Ninth Hour.
In addition to the music, the event will include a chili and hot-dog supper, silent auction beginning at 5 p.m., a raffle and live auction.
Food and entertainment are provided for free, but a love offering will be accepted.
The Christopher Foundation is a nonprofit charity whose mission is to raise public awareness of pediatric cancer, support patient and families and gain knowledge through research funding. Proceeds will benefit the foundation.

• Karl and Shannon Wendt will present their nationwide interactive relationship seminar at 7 p.m. each Wednesday in February at Mount Hope Church of Christ, 2830 Mount Hope Road.
The theme is “Still the One: All You Need Is Love — And Other Myths About Relationships.”
Seminar leaders are Karl Wendt, Ph.D. in family therapy, from the morning shows on KSN-TV and KOBC radio, and Shannon Wendt, masters in communication, director of the Connection Institute at Lifechoices.
Child care and children’s classes for all ages will be available free of charge. A free meal will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. each night in the gym.
The event is free and open to the public.
