Joplin
• The Joplin Life Chain will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday along Seventh Street and Range Line Road.
The one hour Life Chain is a time of prayer and peaceful witness against the violence of abortion. Joplin is joining numerous Life Chains across America and Canada. Interested people may participate.

• Keys to the Kingdom, a community prayer and worship service, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Memorial Hall.
Guest speakers will be LeRoy Danzy, of Joplin, and formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jeremy and Christie Evans, of Joplin. Praise and worship will be led by Cody James.
Admission is free. No child care will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods to help local shelters and food ministries.

• The 37th annual Round-Up will be celebrated on Sunday at Central Christian Center.
The activities will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the church auditorium at 410 Virginia Ave. and will continue after the morning service to the church parking lot at Firth Street and Virginia Ave. for chili and an afternoon of family fun and games.
Round-Up started in 1972 when church members set aside a Sunday to invite all their families and friends to a day filled with all kinds of activities that centered on getting people started back to attending church on a regular basis.

• “A Place For Everyone” is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall at South Joplin Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 1901 Pearl Ave.
The event includes Sunday school, worship service and a luncheon. Family and friends are invited to attend.
The Christian Women’s Fellowship will hold a coffee at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall. There will be a Spiritual Life study and short business meeting. A program will be presented on the Watered Gardens organization in Joplin.

The Cornwell twins, also known as the Master’s Encouragers, combine singing and team preaching.

• The Rev. Bob Croucher will be the guest minister at Abundant Life Christian Center, 6863 Newman Road, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Croucher is a RHEMA Ministerial Association International regional director from Oklahoma. There will be special age-appropriate classes for all children from birth to fifth grade.
• The First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Pearl Ave., will host the First Tuesday Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Cost is $5 for spaghetti red, chili, Frito chili pie, or lasagna with salad, dessert and beverage. Call ahead for carry-outs. This month’s proceeds will benefit the Angel Tree Christmas project.

• The First Baptist Church of Joplin will hold “Extreme Home Makeover,” a marriage enrichment retreat, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10.
The retreat will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Saturday at the church’s new Family Life Center, 42nd Street and Connecticut Avenue.
Jon and Kelly Randles, of Frisco, Texas, will lead the conference, which is open to both couples and singles who want to enrich their relationships.
The conference fee is $5 for singles and $10 for couples, which includes dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday. Free child care is available for children ages 2 through fifth grade.

• Women of Worth, a division of Wheel of Life Coalition, will hold the fourth annual women’s conference “Becoming a Healthier Me” on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Joplin Church of God, 1402 S. Michigan Ave.
The women’s conference will focus on gaining purity and peace for one’s life.
Registration will be at 9 a.m. and the conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include workshops on “Depression and Women,” led by Dan Clark; “Purity and Marriage” by Stacie Yearton; and “Purity Not Perfection” by Pamela Corkle. The Rev. Pat Shook, of Tulsa, Okla., will speak at a service at 7 p.m.

• Revival services are slated Sunday through Wednesday, Oct. 11-14, at Harmony Heights Baptist Church, 2025 Indiana Ave.
The Rev. Jay Schribner will be the guest evangelist. He is the former pastor of First Baptist Church in Branson. Music will be by Roy Tremble, who has sang with various groups and is best known for his time spent with The Cathedral Quartet.

• Spaces are still available and vendors are needed for the 22nd annual craft festival presented by the ladies of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2616 Connecticut Ave.
The craft show is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in the school gymnasium and outside.
An inside space, which includes a 8-foot table and two chairs, is $25 and an inside space without a table is $20. The outside 8-foot space, with no table or chairs provided, is $5 each purchased in advance and $10 each the day of the sale. No refunds will be given.
Only craft items are to be sold. Set-up time is 7 a.m. the day of the sale and at 8 a.m. any space not occupied will be resold.

Seneca
• A rummage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the fellowship hall at Seneca United Methodist Church, 1403 Cherokee St.
The sale will include Christmas items as well as many other objects.
Proceeds from the event will be used to pay church expenses.

• Hornet Christian Church, 7283 Coyote Drive, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The church was founded 50 years ago by some students from Ozark Bible College. It first met in the Hornet Community Building and baptisms were held in Five Mile Creek.
To celebrate the anniversary, John Watson, past minister and presently an elder, will preach at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday. Butch and Pam Ward are the current pastors.
The service will be followed by a fellowship dinner. The meat will be provided.
The public is invited to attend. Those attending the dinner are asked to bring a covered dish.
