• Special music for the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Pearl Ave., will be presented by the Praises Ringing Handbell and Sanctuary choirs.
The church will hold its annual Fall Fest church picnic at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at ShoalKirk campground. The Rev. Jeff Light, former associate pastor, will be the special guest for this year’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of ShoalKirk. A new chapel facility will be dedicated.

• Registration is being accepted for Arise! Cry Out!, a worldwide day of extraordinary prayer for children and schools scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at NewCreation Church, 19th Street and Connor Avenue.

• Resurrection Bound, a Southern gospel quartet from Morgantown, Ky., will be in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Smithfield Christian Church.
The church will hold a soup and chili supper from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Those attending will have a choice of soup or chili, dessert and drink for $2.50 a person. All proceeds will be given to support the ministry of Resurrection Bound.
The public may attend. A love offering also will be taken after the concert to help support the group.

• The Crist Family, a Southern gospel singing group from Tennessee, will perform Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25 and 25, at Round Grove Baptist Church, Highway UU.

n Fall evening activities will be held at 6 p.m. today at Nashville United Methodist Church, north of Oronogo.
The event will include an old-fashioned horse-drawn hayride, bonfire and refreshments. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Webb City
• Vocalists who like to sing great choral works are invited to join a new community chorus that is being formed in the Joplin area
The new community chorus is being formed to perform Handel’s “Messiah” this Christmas season.
An organizational meeting and the first rehearsal will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Church of the Nazarene, 701 W. 10th St. The group will be rehearsing from 2 to 3 p.m. each Sunday at the same location.
The projected evening performances of the “Messiah” will be Friday and Saturday, Dec. 18 and 19, at a location to be announced.
Local choral directors Lisa Qualls and Mary Lynn Carter will be directing the group. They will be using the G. Schirmer edition of the “Messiah.” If one does not have this edition, it can be purchased at Williamson Music in Joplin. Everyone is invited to come and be a part of the new chorus. It is open to anyone who has sung the “Messiah” before or would like to learn the choral work.

• Larry Love, of Joplin, will be guest speaker at a banquet meeting on Saturday, Oct. 24, of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, Pittsburg Chapter No. 650.
The meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting is set for 7:15 p.m. at the Lamplighter Inn, 4020 Parkview Drive. The cost is $7 a person. Meal reservations are required.
Love and his wife, Sharon, have ministered in many nations of the world over the past 36 years. They have experience in planting and establishing church fellowships, crusade evangelism, counseling and restoring Christian leaders. They also founded Eagles Rest Ministries.

• David’s Dance Pow-Wow of Praise is scheduled Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25, at Twin Bridges State Park, near Wyandotte.
The event will begin at noon Saturday with the opening ceremony and continue to 6 p.m. Sunday. Warren Pratt and Eddie Lindsey will be the preachers and Geoff Buffalo will serve as the master of ceremonies.
Saturday’s schedule includes a hog roast at 4 p.m.; powwow preaching and dancing by American Preacher and Tribe of Judah Dancers at 5 p.m.; Native American tribal dancers and music by the Elm Tree Baptist Church of Tahlequah at 6 p.m.; fellowship from 7 to 9 p.m.; and overnight camping at 9 p.m.
Sunday’s activities will begin with a camper breakfast at 8:30 a.m. There will be music and testimonies at 10 a.m.; speakers and ceremony blessing at 11 a.m.; fellowship lunch at 1 p.m.; more speaking and ceremony blessing at 3 p.m.; fellowship time at 4:30 p.m.; and closing ceremony and prayer at 6 p.m.
