Joplin
• First Baptist Church of Joplin, Seventh Street and Pearl Avenue, welcomes Jamie Tickelas as the congregation’s new senior pastor.
The Rev. Tickelas is a native of Cherokee, Kan., and former pastor of First Baptist Church of Cherokee. He was ordained as a minister by First Baptist Church of Cherokee in January, 1998 and has served as senior pastor of that congregation for the past 12 years. He is a 2008 graduate of Pittsburg (Kan.) State University and in 2005 he was recognized as Outstanding Smaller Church Pastor of the Year by Lifeway, a division of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Tickelas, together with his wife Brianna, and 2-year-old son, Hawkins, will assume the new pastorate on Sunday, Jan. 3, He will speak at the 10:30 a.m. service.
• A duo Southern gospel music concert will be presented at 5 p.m. Sunday at Harmony Heights Baptist Church, 2025 Indiana Ave.
Ronnie Page, formerly of the Oak Ridge Boys and Chuck Wagon Gang, along with Tommy Fairchild, former piano player of the Oak Ridge Boys, will perform.
The public is welcome. A freewill offering will be taken.

• Greg Winn, singer, saxophonist and songwriter, will perform a concert at 11 a.m. Sunday at Southside Apostolic Faith Church, 4430 S. Main St.
Winn has performed Christian music around much of the United States with various singing groups before beginning his solo ministry in 1988. He plays a variety of music styles from smooth jazz numbers on the saxophone, gospel and fun songs with quick wit. He has released six CDs to date.

• First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Pearl Ave., will hold the First Tuesday Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The menu includes spaghetti red, chili, lasagna or Frito chili pie and salad, dessert, and drink. The cost is $6. Proceeds this month will benefit NALA. People should call ahead for carryouts.
The Presbyterian Women Circle 1 will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday for a study of “Journey of Faith.”

• Christian Women’s Fellowship of South Joplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 1901 Pearl Ave., will hold a coffee at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
There will be a Spiritual Life study and a short business meeting. A program will be given on the Linus Project, which is a group of women who make blankets for children who are ill, have lost their family or are autistic.
