Catholic Charities puts out call for donations to fill two trucks for Oklahoma tornado survivors

JOPLIN, Mo. — Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri is requesting donations to fill two box trucks with needed supplies for the tornado-devastated region of Moore, Okla. One box truck is located  in Joplin at the Wal-Mart Super Center on Range Line Road.

The second is located on the parking lot of Hobby Lobby, 1535 E. Battlefield, in Springfield.

Catholic Charities is accepting only new items, including shovels, tools, work gloves, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, diapers, wipes and canned food items. Plastic storage containers are greatly needed. Many survivors also need binders and file folders for holding insurance and FEMA paperwork.

Catholic Charities is also accepting cash donations that will be submitted to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City.

Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri also has made a $5,000 donation and has offered to send two trained disaster response staff members to Oklahoma if requested.

Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri is a non-profit agency serving 39 counties in southern Missouri, and has been continuously involved in disaster response and recovery efforts in Joplin since May 2011.
