Islamic Society of Joplin to host cultural nights

JOPLIN, Mo. — Cultural nights hosted by the Islamic Society of Joplin on the second Friday of each month on Friday will be an introduction to Islam.

The event will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 1802 W. 32nd St., suite K, in the Pavilions West shopping center. Food will be served.

Islamic Society of Joplin member Kimberly Kester said the cultural nights are an attempt to continue an interfaith dialogue established after the mosque was destroyed Aug. 6 in a suspicious fire. She said the members of the mosque also want to show their appreciation for the support people showed following the mosque fire.

Kester said local Muslims want to answer questions, dispel myths and promoted interfaith relations.
