Screenings, programs offered at St. John’s
Health screenings and a program on self defense for women are among the events offered by St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
Today: Blood-pressure and glucose screening, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Newton County Senior Center. Free and open to the public. Details: 627-8402.
Friday: CV risk assessment, 8 a.m. to noon, Health Connection at Northpark Mall. The fee is $99 and includes five screenings. Registration is required prior to day of screening. Details: 625-2000.
Saturday: Self-protection for women, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Conference Room 1, St. John’s. Wyatte Sharp, a retired law-enforcement officer, will teach women how to protect themselves in dangerous situations. Registration required. Details: 625-2000.
Tuesday: Diabetes support group, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., ninth-floor classroom, St. John’s. Open to the public.
Leg pain and vascular health, 5:30 p.m., Health Connection at Northpark Mall. Brenda Rowe will offer the program. Registration is required. Details: 625-2000.
Prenatal, yoga classes slated at Freeman
Today: Breastfeeding class, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Conference Room 1W, Freeman West, 1102 W. 32nd St. The class will teach basic breastfeeding techniques. Details: FHS-6667.
Saturday: Prenatal class, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Conference Room 1W at Freeman West. The one-day class is for expecting mothers and their labor coaches. Free for Freeman patients. Details: FHS-6667.
