‘Laps for Life’ blood drive begins The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will present the first ever “Laps for Life Blood Drive” today, Friday and Saturday at the Joplin Donor Center inside the main entrance to Northpark Mall, 101 N. Range Line Road. Drive hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Each participant will receive a collectible T-shirt during the event, which is presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts. Participants may also register for door prizes, including two tickets to the Kansas 400 NASCAR race, two tickets to the O’Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals in Topeka, Kan., and racing apparel, including silk-screened camp shirts featuring O’Reilly’s famous Chubster Chevy. Speaker to discuss diabetes and kidneys CARTHAGE, Mo. — A program on diabetes and the kidneys will be presented at 4 p.m. Wednesday at McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital, 3125 Dr. Russell Smith Way. Lung support group to meet The Freeman Lung Support Group will meet from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in conference rooms A and B at the Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute, 1102 W. 32nd St. The group is open to patients and family members who are coping with lung disease.
