Three Carthage wrestlers won individual championships and the Tigers took home the first-place team trophy Friday at the Kinloch Classic Holiday Tournament at Parkview High School.
Carthage scored 515.5 points, followed by runner-up Seneca with 360.5 and third-place Ozark with 318.
Tyler Harden at 126 pounds, Seth Logan at 132 and Trevor Feagans at 138 captured individual championships.
“Probably the most impressive was Seth Logan knocking off Joe Velliquette (of Nixa), a returning state champion from last year and an All-American in freestyle and Greco Roman,” said Carthage head coach Kenny Brown.
A stalling call against Velliquette sent the match into overtime, and Logan scored a takedown in sudden victory, Brown said.
Among other Carthage highlights was the 150th career victory for Feagans, who is 22-0 this season. Tommy Bradshaw was runner-up at 145 and Skyler Bloomer was third at 182.
Seneca’s individual champions were Will Roark at 120, Logan Grady at 145 and Jalen Skaggs at 160. Butch Ferguson was third at 152.
Jordan Moffett of McDonald County won the title at 220 pounds. Monett’s Chase Brennan won the title at 113 pounds and teammate Sean Jastal was third at 106.
