LOCKWOOD, Mo. —
Ben Chaffee and Josh Woodmansee combined for 31 points as College Heights beat Pleasant Hope 50-34 Friday night in the consolation round of the Dennis Cornish Classic.
Semifinal winners were No. 1 Billings (79-43 over Jasper) and second-seeded Lamar (54-35 over Liberal).
Golden City defeated Lockwood 48-43 in the other consolation semifinal and will tackle CHC at 5:30 p.m. today to settle fifth place.
CHC led 26-14 at the half. The Pirates’ Zane McCurry tallied 15.
Golden City’s Wyatt Scott and Dakota Triplett combined to garner 34 points.
Lamar received 15 points apiece from Tripp Tucker and Landon Compton. Austin Essick tallied 19 and Dawson Meyer and Chad Yeokum had 18 apiece to power Billings.
Lockwood and Pleasant Hope meet at 4 p.m. to decide seventh and open the four-game session.
McAuley, CHC fall
DIAMOND, Mo. — The McAuley Warriors and College Heights girls basktball teams suffered losses at the Diamond Tournament.
Sarcoxie beat McAuley 42-32, and Verona beat College Heights 42-37.
Megan Price led McAuley with nine points in the loss.
Kirsty Green paced College Heights with 13 points, while Shelby Barsotti led Verona with 13.
McAuley will play College Heights at noon today for seventh place. Verona will face Sarcoxie for fifth place at 1:30 p.m. The third-place game between Lockwood and Jasper will be at 3, and the championship between Diamond and Purdy will be at 4:30.
