College Heights is the No. 2 seed in the Class 2, District 12 volleyball tournament that begins Monday, Oct. 22 at Stockton.
The Cougars (12-6-4) will play either Diamond or Sarcoxie in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23. The championship match will follow at 8:30 p.m.
No. 1 seed El Dorado Springs (25-3-2), ranked No. 6 in Class 2 by the Missouri Volleyball Coaches Association, will face either Stockton or Lamar in the semifinals.
College Heights takes a break from its Spring River Valley Conference schedule to play in the six-team, round-robin McDonald County Tournament, which begins at 9 a.m. today.
“We’re hoping for a 20-win season, which we could do after this tournament and districts,” said College Heights head coach Mary Colin.
Other teams in the McDonald County Tournament are Wheaton, Seneca, Clever, McDonald County and Springdale (Ark.) Har-Ber.
College Heights, tied for the lead in the Spring River Valley Conference, finishes its regular season next week with matches at Greenfield, at home against McAuley Catholic and at Wheaton.
Ash Grove (23-4) is the top seed in the Class 2 district tournament at Washburn. Ash Grove will face the either Blue Eye or Southwest in the semifinals.
In Class 1, Jasper is the top seed in the district tournament at Greenfield and will face either Everton or Thomas Jefferson in the semifinals. McAuley Catholic will face Greenfield in a first-round matchup.
Pierce City is the top seed in the Class 1 district tournament at Pierce City. The Eagles will face either Hurley or Miller in the semifinals.
Rich Hill is the No. 1 seed in the Class 1 district tournament at Liberal and will face either Northeast Vernon County or Sheldon in the semifinals. Liberal will play Miami and Hume will face Bronaugh in first-round matchups.
