GRANBY, Mo. —
Carl Junction tallied nine runs in the final three innings and pulled away for an 11-1 victory over East Newton in Big 8 Conference baseball action on Tuesday.
Dalton Cloven struck out five batters and walked none while allowing four hits in the six-inning, complete-game effort.
Nathan Skaggs and Jaren Hulette each had two hits and two runs batted in for the Bulldogs (12-8, 5-2 Big 8). Skaggs hit a run-scoring triple in the first inning and walked with the bases loaded during a five-run fourth, and Hulett two-run double came in a four-run sixth.
Dillon Bunch hit a double for the Patriots (6-12, 1-6).

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Four different Bulldogs posted goals as they hiked their record to 14-6.
Shelby Campbell and Taylor Beck, who was assisted by Sydney Solberg, scored in the second half as Carl Junction expanded a 2-1 halftime advantage.
Anissa Williams, who was assisted by Solberg, and Kelsey Swarens tallied in the first half.
Sarah Spangler and Alyssa Brown were in goal for the Bulldogs. Their statistics had them with a 13-4 lead in shots.
Lebanon 1, Joplin 0
LEBANON, Mo. — Lebanon’s Mady Waterman scored late in the first half and the Yellowjackets limited Joplin to one shot in an Ozark Conference match.
“It was a very physical game,” said Joplin head coach Ed Miller. “It was a game of matchups and we had to move some people around. Lebanon has a good team.
“The girls played with a lot of heart. Our goalie (Megan Rowe) came out with some good saves. Kelly Stringer usually plays midfield for us but she played sweeper, and she played real well.”
Tennis
Joplin 9, Carl Junction 0
The Eagles lost only one game while improving their dual tennis record to 11-1 and handing Carl Junction its third loss in 10 matches.
At No. 3 doubles, Joplin’s Andrew Roberts-Edran Ali beat Dylan Harralson-Devin Corbin 8-1.
The Eagles’ other winners were Jeremy Lynn, Luke Frogge, Brooks Butler and Duncan Ford.
Joplin travels to Springfield on Thursday for the Ozark Conference meet, starting at 9 a.m. at the Cooper Complex.
