Eagles finish third, fourth in conference meet

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Joplin High School finished third in the girls division and fourth in the boys division of the Ozark Conference track and field meet on Thursday night at Kennedy Stadium.

Waynesville won both divisions. Top three teams in the girls division were Waynesville 132.5, Camdenton 100 and Joplin 88.5. The Tigers, in the boys division, led the field of 10 with 139 points. West Plains had 126, Parkview 88 and Joplin 74.

The Joplin girls were sparked by a 1-2 performance in the pole vault by Mariah Sanders (10-6) and Holly O’Dell (10-0).

The Eagles’ Emma Hueller placed second in the shot put and sixth in the discus.  Miriah Johnson was second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Makayla Tillman was fourth in both the 100 and 200. Chanci McGowen was fourth in the discus.

The Eagles’ 4x200 relay team was fourth.

Individual efforts by the Joplin boys included second by Aiden Shipley in the pole vault, third by Ryan Davidson in the 3,200, a third by Colton Simmons in the 300 hurdles, fourth by Simmons in the 100 hurdles, fourth by Cord Franks in the 400 and fourth by Ryun Snyder in the high jump.

Joplin’s 4x100 relay team was fourth.

Morgan wins 4

OZARK, Mo. — Carthage’s girls were third and the Webb City boys third in the Central Ozark Conference Large Division.

Ozark won the girls division with 139.5 points. Branson had 131 and Carthage 93. Webb City was fifth and Neosho seventh.

Nixa won the boys division with 138 points to 129 for Ozark. Webb City had 84, No. 4 Carthage 84 and No. 7 Neosho 49.

Carthage’s Kaylee Morgan won four events — the 100 in 13.15, the 200 in 26.4, the 400 in 1:00.26 and the long jump in 18-5, a league and school record.

Carthage’s Sierra Barrett won the triple jump (34-8.75).

Neosho’s Sydnie Lowe claimed the hurdles (the 100 in 16.79 and the 300 in 48.16).

Webb City, which was second in the 4x200 relay, won the 4x100 in 52.67. Team members: Felecia Clark, Sidney Young, Morgan Davidson and Swaden Smith.

Individual winners for the Webb City boys were Jarvis Jones (11.39 in the 100), Logan Williams (39.97 in the 300 hurdles) and Alex Christian (22-10 in the long jump).

Carthage’s Stefan Stokes won the 110 hurdles in 15.07.

Webb City won the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Members were Phoenix Johnson, Trey Parra, Christian and Jones.
