JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —
Don Hollingshead of Joplin advanced to the semifinals of the MSHSAA Class 4, District 3 wrestling tournament Friday night at Jefferson City.
Hollingshead (31-9), at 152 pounds, pinned Dennen Porter of Springfield Kickapoo in the quarterfinals in 5 minutes, 34 seconds.
Joplin’s Phillip Reitz at 285 was pinned by Jacob Semple of Waynesville in the first period of their quarterfinal match.
In the Class 3, District 3 meet at Willard, Neosho advanced 13 of its 14 wrestlers into the semifinals. The exception was at 170 pounds, where Skyler Bloomer of Carthage scored a 1-0 decision over Garrick Fausett.
Carl Junction’s Nick Koon at 152 and Taylor Dawdy at 220 advanced to the semifinals along with Webb City’s Brayden Goff at 160, Alex Lane at 170 and Tony Carranco at 285.
Carthage advanced seven wrestlers to the semifinals — Dakota Jones at 106, Gage Gartner at 120, River Maggard at 126, Seth Logan at 132, Trevor Feagans at 138, Tommy Bradshaw at 145, Bloomer at 170 and Blaine Perry at 285.
McDonald County’s semifinalists are Trevor Young at 126, Josh Kinser at 132, Jacob Dalton at 145 and Jordan Moffett at 220.
In the Class 2 District 3 meet at Clinton, Monett’s semifinalists are Sean Jastal at 106, Chase Brennan at 113, Kedrick Brink at 120, Dominick Witherow at 145, Wesley Abramovitz at 170, Matt Wentz at 182 and Devon Overall at 195.
Nevada’s semifinal qualifiers are Dayton Miller at 106, Slade Stiles at 120, Colby Smith at 220 and Sam Ellifrits at 285.
In the Class 1, District 2 tournament at Versailles, Seneca’s semifinalists are Will Roark at 120, Cole Lankford at 126, Jesse Rhoades at 132, Jalen Skaggs at 160, Ryker Skelton at 170, Dylan West at 195 and Devin Madison at 220.
Diamond advanced two wrestlers to the semifinals — Justin Xiong at 113 and Jordan Douglas at 145.
