Players from Joplin, College Heights Christian, Carl Junction and Carthage represent the West team in the second Sertoma Grin Action Classic today at Parkview High School in Springfield.
The four-team volleyball tournament begins at 1 p.m., and the championship match is set for approximately 3. The players are all recent high school graduates.
Proceeds from the event are given to the “Tooth Truck,” a mobile dental clinic for at-risk children who don’t have access to dental care.
Expected to play for the West team are Olivia Hampton and Erin Lawellin of Joplin, Athen Taylor, Kayte Peters and Kirsty Green of College Heights, Hope Joyner of Carthage and Chloe Shepherd and Emily Goeken of Carthage.
Coaches for the West are Mary Colin of College Heights and Piper Wright of Republic.
The South team includes Taylon Sumners of Aurora, Erica Walters of Mount Vernon, Taylor Mettlach of Southwest and Southwest coach Steve Voyak.
The North squad has Regan Kannady and Sharla Quick from Nevada and Tigers coach Ashley Thoreson.
