College Heights Christian, despite its 6-foot-3 sophomore Josh Woodmansee scoring 19 points, lost 61-31 to visiting Springfield New Covenant in a high school boys basketball game Saturday.
Woodmansee, who missed CHC’s previous contest because of sickness, added nine rebounds for the Cougars, and they received 12 points and 10 boards from 6-1 junior Ryan Beaver.
New Covenant was paced in scoring by Chance Smartt (21 points) and Jared Schrader (14). The Warriors led 39-19 at the half.
CHC coach Eric Johnson said 6-1 sophomore Ben Chaffee missed his second game in a row because of an injury.
CHC will debut in the round robin Sarcoxie Tournament at 8 p.m. Monday against the Mount Vernon junior varsity.
Girls games on Monday are Sarcoxie vs. Riverton at 5 p.m. and CHC vs. Jasper at 6:30.
