The Carl Junction boys basketball team will have some confidence heading into its Class 4 District 12 first-round game.
The Bulldogs defeated McDonald County 57-40 Friday night at McDonald County High School. Carl Junction will face the Mustangs again at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the first round at Carthage.
Carl Junction jumped out to a 25-11 halftime lead.
Travis Vogt led Carl Junction (15-10) with 22 points. Matt Magee added 15 points, and Ryan Devore scored 10.
McDonald County (7-18) was led by Drey Fickle with 15 points. Tyler Sherwood scored 11.
Webb City boys 64, Parsons 26
Webb City had four players with at least nine points and held Parsons to single-digit scoring in three quarters in the runaway win.
Kohl Slaughter led the Cardinals (20-7) with a game-high 23 points, nearly matching Parsons’ team total. Phoenix Johnson, Nate Brown and Alex Basye added nine points apiece.
Webb City led 24-10 after the first quarter and 35-12 at halftime.
Parsons was led by Craig Beachner’s eight points.
