SENECA, Mo. —
The Seneca Indians used a 17-point third quarter to pull away from the Clever Jays 54-43 during the Class 3 District 12 semifinals on Friday night at Seneca.
Seneca (20-7) trailed Clever 24-23 at halftime, but the Indians outscored the Jays 17-10 in the third quarter.
Senior guard Kyler Ng led Seneca with 16 points. Junior forward Elias Roelfsema and senior forward Logan St. Clair scored 13 and 12, respectively.
Clever was led by senior guard Dalton Fisher with 17 points.
Seneca will face top-seeded Mount Vernon in tonight’s championship game at 7:30. The Mountaineers dominated the middle two quarters and coasted past Ash Grove 69-40 in the first semifinal.
The Mountaineers led just 15-14 after the first quarter, but they outscored Ash Grove 17-1 in the second quarter and 29-7 in the third period to build a 61-22 cushion.
Luke Call, who hit five 3-pointers, and Chandler Myers tallied 17 points apiece for Mount Vernon. Shane Williams added 11 points and Zane Phillips 10.
Cody Allhands scored 18 points for Ash Grove.
