Prep baseball roundup: College Heights moves to title game

ARCHIE, Mo. — College Heights got a pitching gem from Drew Kilgore and beat Rich Hill 6-2 to advance to the Class 2, District 14 championship game.

The Cougars (7-11) will face  Archie today at 6:30 p.m.

Kilgore scattered six hits in his complete-game effort and allowed just two runs in the bottom of the seventh, after the Cougars had a comfortable 6-0 lead.

Josh Woodmansee was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cougars — and RBI triple in a two-run first inning and a double and a run in a two-run fifth inning.

Brad Copeland’s double drove home both fifth-inning runs.

Tyler Melton was also 2-for-4 with an RBI for College heights.

Cardinals, Carthage fall

WILLARD, Mo. —Fifth-seeded Neosho shocked No. 1 Carthage 12-6 and second-seeded Willard handled Webb City 10-0 in five innings in semifinals of the Class 5 District 12 Tournament.

Justin Atchison limited Webb City to singles by Austin White and Austin Carter.

Willard received three hits, three runs scored and two RBI from leadoff batsman Keaton Presley. Michael Pfeifer added three safeties and Luke Latham a pair.

McAuley Catholic defeated Exeter 4-0 and advanced to the semifinals of the Class 1, District 6 tournament at the Joplin Athletic Complex.

Anthony Bertoncino pitched a two-hit shutout. He walked five and struck out six. Shaw Robertson was 3-for-3 with a double and scored three runs.
