CARTHAGE, Mo. —
Carl Junction’s girls jumped out to a 17-5 first-quarter lead Monday night and defeated McDonald County 51-35 in the first round of the Class 4 District 12 tournament.
Carl Junction will face top-seeded Webb City in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Third-seeded Carthage advanced with a 57-19 win over Monett.
Brenlee McPherson led Carl Junction with 14 points, while Sydney Koch had 11 points and Bryce Boyd and Bradyn Wall each scored nine points.
“Our girls came out ready to play,” said Carl Junction head coach Tiffany Dirks. “They attacked early and stayed on top the whole game. Our girls really played hard. Our effort was great.”
Preslea Reece led McDonald County with 12 points.
