MIAMI, Okla. —
Wyandotte rallied in the fourth quarter to nip Chetopa 42-41 Thursday afternoon in a Boys Blue Division game in the 68th annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M High School Tournament.
The Bears outscored the Green Hornets 12-7 in the final eight minutes to erase a 34-30 deficit after three periods.
Mason Neece and Jason Larson scored 13 and 10 points, respectively, for Wyandotte. Chetopa’s Brice Riddle captured game honors with 14 points.
Wyandotte will face Tulsa Will Rogers in a semifinal game at 4:30 p.m. today in the Civic Center. Will Rogers, powered by 6-foot-1 sophomore Dedric Cherry’s 40 points, downed Commerce 56-46 in their tournament opener.
Hunter Burkholder fired in 25 points for Commerce.
The division’s other semifinal game pits Diamond against West Fork, Ark.
Boys Norse
Dylan Woods tallied 24 points and Tanner Ranken added 12 as Bluejacket rolled past Tyro Christian 80-35.
Bluejacket plays Quapaw, a 78-53 winner over Cave Springs, in a semifinal game today at 6. The other semi matches Foyil and Watts.
Boys Gold
Miami captured its tournament opener with a 54-42 decision over Monett, sending the Wardogs into a semifinal game against St. Louis Christian tonight at 6 in the NEO Student Activity Center.
In another semifinal, Roland meets Tulsa McLain at 7:30. Monett plays a consolation bracket game at 3 against Springfield Central.
Girls Blue
Lucky ‘7’ Conference foes Quapaw and Wyandotte collide in a semifinal game today at 4:30 in the NEO gymnasium.
Wyandotte, receiving 20 points from Ashlynn Brescheisen and 10 from Natalie Hofschulte, rolled past South Coffeyville 47-19.
Quapaw overcame a 14-8 first-quarter deficit to beat Roland’s junior varsity 53-33. Sierra Burkybile tallied 25 points for the Wildcats.
Diamond dropped its first-round game 60-30 to Morrisville, which popped in 11 3-point goals, including four apiece by McKenzie Presley and Kylee Painter. Presley finished with 18 points and Painter had 13.
Hanna Million scored 10 points for Diamond.
Girls Norse
The Lucky ‘7’ landed three teams in the semis as Welch beat Foyil 47-23, Commerce downed Tyro Christian 48-15 and Afton downed Cave Springs 50-26.
Ashley BigEagle led Commerce with 13 points.
Lacey Windle scored 18 points and Rylee Chenoweth 12 for Welch.
Today’s semifinals — both at 4:30 — pair Commerce vs. Afton and Welch vs. Watts, a 61-45 winner over Chetopa.
Girls Gold
Area schools went 2-1 in the division as Miami beat St. Louis Christian 63-28, Bluejacket defeated Douglass 49-30 and Grove lost to Guthrie 48-37.
Semifinals at 7:30 match Miami vs. Roland and Bluejacket vs. Guthrie.
