In the market for a vehicle?

Whether you need four or more wheels or just two, you might be able to find them Saturday at the city of Joplin’s annual surplus property auction.

Several vehicles, office furniture and equipment, computers, tools, and a bunch of bicycles will be among the items to be sold.

Tim Nyander, community services manager for the city, said the vehicles include two dump trucks, two vans with wheelchair lifts, a one-ton dump truck chassis without the dump bed, a leaf vacuum and a tar pot, also known as a “crack-sealer melter.”

“There’s a lot of computers and old or obsolete communication racks,” Nyander said. “There’s a lot of chairs and a few power tools.”

He said some exercise equipment used by the Fire Department for firefighter fitness also will be for sale.

The auction will start at 9 a.m. It will be conducted at the Public Works Center, 1301 W. Second St. Entry to the auction site will be on A Street at Porter Avenue. The event probably will last until 3 to 4 p.m., Nyander said.

The public may view the items from 1 to 4 p.m. today and from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday.
