WEBB CITY, Mo. — Four people were seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon southeast of Webb City, authorities said.

A Honda that was westbound on 17th Street about 3:25 p.m. skidded off the road into a small gully a quarter-mile east of Hall Street.

Three of the occupants were thrown from the vehicle, and a fourth was pinned inside and had to be extricated by emergency workers.

Two of the injured were flown by medical helicopters to Joplin hospitals. The other two were taken to hospitals by ambulance.

Don Melton, assistant police chief in Webb City, said three of the occupants were male and one was female.

Their names were being withheld pending notification of families.
