The Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce is kicking off three new committees this week with meetings scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Carl Junction Membership Committee will meet at 4 p.m. today at Jennafer Johnson's Edward Jones office at Stone's Corner. Also meeting today, the Historical Preservation Committee is slated for 6 p.m. in the dining hall of the Carl Junction Community Center, 303 N. Main St.
The Cultural Affairs Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the dining hall at the Community Center.

Longtime Democrat dies at 81
Sapp, 81, died Thursday. Funeral services were Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Joplin. A longtime Jasper County Democratic committeewoman and volunteer, Sapp for years was secretary to the county’s central committee.
