GRANBY — Jerry Ray Clemens, age 73, passed from this life Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, and entered into everlasting peace in the Kingdom of God.
Jerry was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Joplin, Mo., to the union of Ray and Ruth (Moyer) Clemens.
He was united in marriage to his loving wife, of 53 years, Jean (Sturgis) Clemens. They were married Feb. 11, 1955, in Joplin.
Jerry was a very talented artist and master engraver. He was employed by Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, for 20 years, before retiring and then worked for Universal Engraving for 10 years. Along with his artistic ability, he took great pride in his American Quarter Horses from breeding, to area and national showings. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association since 1969. While living around the Tonganoxic, Kan., area he was a member of the Bashore Baptist Church, where he was the leader for youth in Christ.
Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Denny Clemens and Glen Clemens; and one sister, Bonnie Clemens.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Clemens, of the home; one brother, Ronnie Coulson; along with many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Rev. Jeff D. Martin will officiate the service. Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m. at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Burial will be in Gandy Cemetery.
