JOPLIN, Mo. —
Attendees of this year's Ozarks Beerfest will have more than 90 varieties to sample. But six others may be the most enticing, said Don Greenlee, chair of the Ozarks Beerfest Committee.
"Our VIP section has been completely revamped," Greenlee said. "We'll prepare food especially paired with six different beers to show how they can be paired together and enhance the flavor of both."
Executive chef Jared Hook will prepare each entree for each beer, including a lineup of selections from Goose Island, Boulevard and Crown Valley breweries. Those beers won't be available anywhere during the main event, Greenlee said. And neither will Hook's creations.
In its fourth year, Beerfest is an event that benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, of which Greenlee is program director. In addition to samples from Mother's, Boulevard, Piney River and others, the event includes a silent auction, food from seven vendors, games and taxi service provided by Triple A Taxi.
The event helps fund programs and other needs. Last year's event raised about $25,000
