Floozies feature mix of electronic, acoustic styles

JOPLIN, Mo. — Electronic beats will battle with live instruments when the Floozies take the stage tonight at Ganesha Theatre, located at 2331 E. Seventh St.

The duo, which consists of brothers Matt and Mark Hill, of Lawrence, Kan., has a unique approach to electronic dance music. By infusing EDM with the sound of live instruments -- Matt plays guitar and Mark plays drums -- the Hill brothers have created their own hybrid music sytle.

The Floozies top a Dubfixx lineup that will also feature Cold Chain, AC130, Callico, Outterbass, Frindli Quinnli, G.O.A.T. and Justis Dyer. The show comes on the heels of a Dubfixx event headlined by Eliot Lipp, which co-manager Ben Bauder said was "very successful."

The Floozies' current midwest tour wraps up in late February, then the band will take the stage at a slew of summer music festivals, including the Wakarusa MusicFestival in Ozark, Ark., on May 30. The group's newest release "Stuntin,'" can be downloaded for free at www.flooziesduo.com.

Venue doors open at 8 p.m. with music playing until 3 a.m. Admission: $12. The concert is an all-ages event.
