LCD Soundsystem’s farewell concert featured at JET

JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin Electric Theater will add some music to its movie night.

“Shut Up and Play the Hits” features the story of LCD Soundsystem singer James Murphy, who made the decision to disband the band while it was trending up, after the release of 2010’s “This is Happening.” In April 2011, the band performed its final show to a sold-out crowd in New York City.

“Shut Up” chronicles Murphy in a 48-hour span before and after the epic, emotional four-hour show that featured Reggie Watts and Arcade Fire.

After the movie, the farewell concert will be shown in its entirety courtesy of Joshua Trimmell.

The movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m at The Hive, located at 506 S. Main St. Tickets: $10. Concessions available.

Details: 417-434-2944.
